Day TWO: Jan 17-23

SCRIPTURE READING

35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Mark 4:35-41

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 14:27

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulations. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

John 16:33
  1. As events are unfolding in our country this week, pray that those who call on the name of Jesus would seek peace in Him alone.
  2. As you may be experiencing the waves of uncertainty that are swirling all around us, pray for peace. What are you most afraid of today? The pandemic? Your family situation? A personal health challenge? The political upheaval in our country? Whatever it is that constitutes your “storm”, present it to the Lord in faithful prayer and ask him to calm your heart.
  3. Pray for insight regarding ways in which you might be able to extend peace to those in your circle of influence today.
