You were created for God’s goodness today . . .

It’s easy to be fooled into believing that our highest contribution this past week was a vote; in reality, our highest contribution is both our love for others and for  God.

10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

An opinion is just that—an assumed correct thought. My dad always said, “Opinions are like armpits, everyone has one and they all stink.” Actually, he would say a different version that I don’t feel comfortable writing . . . but the meaning is the same; our opinions hold little value when they are not animated by action. God has created YOU to be His Goodness in this world. Your most important actions today are how you love your family, your spouse, your children, your coworkers, the barista, your neighbor, etc. Don’t be fooled into thinking your opinions hold supremacy over your actions. Opinions are fallibile – actions motivated by love are eternal.

12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. 13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:12–13 (NLT)

Over the years our opinions change, our thoughts on issues evolve.  None of us have a full picture of everything. As we follow Jesus, our thoughts and opinions are fluid, as we are formed more and more into the image of Christ. In that way, our thoughts and opinions about the ordering of this world are fleeting and temporary. Do we want to be known more by an opinion that could be invalidated at some point, or your love for your neighbor?

Loving others is eternal.

Today and this week, participate with the Kingdom in deed. Make a plan to participate with the good works God has planned in advance for you.  Our Food Pantry serves hundreds of people every single week with the necessity for food and human connection. CLICK HERE to sign up to deliver food boxes. Make a plan to bless a neighbor with a plate of cookies. Offer to help someone in your life with a project. Remember – when you love others, you are participating with something much more than an opinion; rather, you are participating with the ETERNAL Kingdom of God.
